When in the state of Hypnosis you are not really
"thinking" in the traditional sense.
You are "experiencing" without
questioning.
Clinical Hypnotherapy in its briefest definition is "therapy under hypnosis". It is a safe and beneficial form of therapy with no harmful side effects which has been used for hundreds of years in various countries and cultures and which was approved as a therapeutic practice by the British Medical Association in 1955 and by the American Medical Association in 1958.
Although the term "Hypnosis" was derived from the Greek word hypnos, meaning sleep, Hypnosis is not sleep, but a natural, normal, relaxed and focused state of attention or "trance state" that is characterised by:
* Feelings of well-being
* Increased muscle relaxation
* Predominating Alpha Brain Waves
* An enhanced ability to access memories
* An enhanced ability to accept new ideas about
yourself if they are not in conflict with your values
.
Hypnosis is a gentle and useful tool and
has been proven successful when used in therapy in overcoming many
habits, fears and phobias.
It works by addressing our belief systems by finding out what they
are and where they may have originated, then deciding whether they serve
us any more,or if we may have out grown them and want some new and
better ones.
The whole process becomes possible by deciding and agreeing to
relax into a slower state of consciousness where the critical faculty
or conscious mind is bypassed, much like whilst daydreaming or when we
watch T.V,or get lost in a great movie or book.
The Therapy part of Hypnotherapy
is the process of positive change that takes place in a safe environment with a facilitator you have
chosen and feel comfortable with, with the aim to move forward in your
journey towards positive change. the relationship is crucial to the
work if change is to take place. A decision must be made to trust
someone and you must feel that your facilitator is 100%on your side.

Most Habits, Fears and phobias where born in a moment of time when we really felt like they were a good idea!
Maybe that was true then. We have lived through many situations
that have left us feel frightened and vulnerable and, our very clever
minds have at the time sorted ,decided and leapt into whatever option
felt to be the best one at the time for our sane survival. The trouble
is, these habits, fears and phobias seem to hinder our living now and
just don't seem to suit our lifestyles and who we really are anymore.
Through relaxation of our bodies and minds
we are able to drop down into a slower consciousness and access our
more creative mind.
In these slower states of consciousness we are able to look at and
feel the original triggers as they happened at the time and see them
from a now more grown up perspective. Here we are easily able to decide
if our original response still suits us or not.
If you have any concerns about what is going on for you in your
living and feel stuck in making change, hypnosis is a great way to find
out first hand what is true versus what you have just gone along with
and believed to be true up until now.
Relax, Rewind, Resource and Recreate
*Relax: into a Hypnotic less judgmental state.
*Rewind: look back with incredibly clear memory.
*Resource: some of the skills/talents strengths you may have not used for years or simply forgotten about.
*Recreate: how you would like to live your life.
The deep relaxation itself is worth the experience!
Q: What do you need to get started?
A: Commitment and a genuine desire for positive change!
Hypnotherapy is a great way to discover
the parts of our lives that may be outdated or inappropriate
reflections of who we are today. It gives us the ease to explore ways
to change these habits and routines. We are able to access our creative
selves and find a less cluttered way of thinking, living and being.,
* You are not asleep
* You are not under a spell
* You are simply in a state of deep relaxation of which you can choose to come out of whenever you like.
* you will not blurt out or reveal any deep dark secrets or embarrass yourself.
* There is nothing you will accept under hypnosis that is not good or healthy for your wellbeing.
* You will never accept suggestions that are not positive in the result you wish to achieve.
* You just cannot take in anything that you don't believe.
Hypnotherapy is useful in helping you
with almost every personal lifestyle or behavioral issue that
YOU
have
a strong desire to change.
Some of these are....
anxiety, restlessness, stress management, relaxation,
insomnia, bruxism, habits, nail biting, skin picking, stop smoking,
fears and phobias,
shyness, blushing, self confidence, self
appreciation, motivation, procrastination, most depressions, pessimism,
lethargy, creativity, self responsibility,
your relationship to food,
body and self image
It
is important to remember that hypnosis per se is not "therapy" : the
skilled practice of clinical hypnotherapy resides in the way in which
hypnosis is used to optimise a broad range of psychotherapy and
counselling techniques to facilitate whatever healing and change is
appropriate for you in your particular situation.
Contrary to some of the myths surrounding Hypnosis, you cannot be made
to do anything you do not want to do nor will you "reveal your deepest
secrets" either - it is even possible to tell lies while under
hypnosis. You can only be guided into the hypnotic state by your
therapist if you want to be and all hypnosis is in fact self hypnosis.
